Bangladesh couple sentenced for conspiring to help Islamic State: US Justice Department

A US federal decide in Philadelphia has sentenced a Bangladesh husband and wife to prison phrases for plotting to offer aid to the Daish, the Justice Department stated.

United States Attorney Jennifer Arbittier Williams introduced that Shahidul Gaffar, 40, and Nabila Khan, 35, each citizen of Pennsylvania, had been sentenced to 18 months and years in prison, respectively, via way of means of US District Court Judge Joshua Wolson, the Justice Department stated in a press launch on Thursday.

Gaffar and Khan had been convicted of conspiracy to offer fabric help and sources to the Islamic State, a delegated overseas terrorist organization, the discharge stated.

“The defendants endorsed and financially supported the efforts of Nabila Kahn’s brothers to sign up for the murderous terrorist organization ISIS [Islamic State], that’s a right away danger to the United States,” the discharge added.

According to courtroom docket documents, in 2015, Gaffar and Khan furnished economic aid to 2 of Khan’s brothers who traveled to Syria to sign up for the Islamic State. The couple mentioned the brothers’ tour plans in element with every different as early as September 2014, the discharge noted.
