Nepal’s political parties and the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) have discussed the issue against the COVID-19 Pandemic.
On behalf of Nepal, Former PM and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson PuspaKamal Dhhal ‘Prachda’, CPN-UML General Secretary and Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel, Nepali Congress leader Narayan Khadka, People’s Socialist party chairman Upendra Yadav, Nepal Worker and Peasant Party chairperson Narayanman Bijukchhya, National Democracy Party chairperson Pasupati Samsher Rana praised the support of China in Nepal’s fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
On behalf of the Chinese Communist Party, Minister of International Affairs of the CPC Song Tao and Vice Minister Chen Zhuo had express for joint and collective efforts against the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, the leaders of the two countries expressed their gratitude to the Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party for their support in the fight against COVID-19 in Nepal.
Addressing the meeting, CPN-Maoist Central Committee Chairperson Prachanda thanked the China Foundation for Peace and Development for handing over health supplies to the Maoist Center for the fight against COVID-19.
Stating that there is a lack of oxygen and bedding in Nepal at the peak point of COVID-19, he said that Chinese assistance has helped in the fight against this pandemic.
He thanked China for its continuous support for Nepal’s development and for humanitarian assistance. He congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on his successful victory in the fight against COVID-19. He congratulated China on its 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
On the occasion of the centenary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, he wished for the achieving second centenary goal by 2049. He lauded China for extending its hand of cooperation to the countries of the world, including Nepal, multilaterally and globally.
He said that the vaccine provided by China in Nepal has helped in controlling COVID-19 and requested for more assistance.
Recalling his visit to China as the Prime Minister, he expressed confidence that the two countries would achieve the goal of common development. He also recalls the signing of the Belt and Road Initiative between Nepal and China in 2018, when he was PM. “I am confident that the two countries will work for the development of the community in the Trans-Himalayan region by promoting common prosperity and common interests,” He added.
Recalling the historic visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Nepal, he stressed that the transforming the relation of two countries in the strategic partnership into an everlasting friendship for development and prosperity. He said that both sides should move ahead in the implementation of the agreement reached between the two countries. Stating that Nepal is committed to the one-China policy, he expressed his commitment not to allow Nepali land to be used against the Chinese.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel said that there should be a solid vaccine partnership between Nepal and China and requested for cooperation. He said that the fight against COVID-19 would be successful due to the partnership of political parties of the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel’s Secretariat has said that the growing corona virus epidemic in Nepal, epidemic control and relations with China will be discussed.
On the occasion, People’s Socialist Party of Nepal Yadav recalled that during the Chinese President’s visit to Nepal, he expressed his commitment to help transform Nepal from a landlocked nation to a land-linked nation and move forward as a development partner between the two countries.
He hoped for more support from China in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
