Indian Navy Chief interacts with INS Trinkand Mission Team at Dukm

Indian Navy officials said Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar interacted with the crew of INS Trikand Mission at Dukm, which is deployed for anti-piracy operations in the region. Admiral R Hari Kumar was also shown the Duqm Port and various facilities available for the mooring of ships there.

“During his visit to Oman, Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar visited Dukam where he addressed the crew of INS Trikand mission deployed for anti-piracy operations in the area. They were also shown various facilities available for ship berthing along with Duqm port and ship repair and maintenance facilities, the Indian Navy officials said.

The Indian Navy Chief is on a three-day visit to Oman from 31 July to 2 August to strengthen the existing bilateral defence ties and hold high-level discussions with the Omani military leadership. Earlier on Tuesday, he discussed issues related to bilateral defence cooperation with General Sultan bin Mohammed Al-Numani, Minister of the Royal Office. He will hold bilateral discussions with his Omani counterpart, Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsen Al-Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) and Major General Matar bin Salim bin Rashid Al Balushi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman. Defense Ministry said in a press release.

The Navy chief arrived in Muscat on Sunday and was received by Rear Admiral Saif bin Nasser bin Mohsen Al-Rahbi, Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, and Amit Narang, India’s Ambassador to Oman. Accompanying the Navy Chief’s visit, the indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Visakhapatnam arrived at Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat. Various naval cooperation events are planned with the Royal Navy of Oman, culminating in the Maritime Partnership exercise on 3 August.

Indian Navy officials said that the indigenously built destroyer INS Visakhapatnam entered Oman on Sunday to enhance the maritime partnership between the Indian Navy and the Royal Oman Navy. Officials said the Indian Navy and the Royal Oman Navy are working closely to deal with security challenges in the region and the warship is part of the Western Naval Command fleet.
