Legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara has backed Australia all-rounder Nathan Coulter-Nile to fill the third seamer spot for Mumbai Indians in their much-awaited match against Chennai Super Kings to be played on Sunday in UAE.
Lara feels that Coulter-Nile is quite capable with the bat and he might be a game-changer for Mumbai Indians within the second leg of the Indian Premier (IPL) within the hot and humid conditions of the UAE.
“You need a third seamer within the UAE. It’s extremely popular. You expect pitches to be dry and switch a touch. Nathan Coulter-Nile, on behalf of me, is usually an honest choice with the ball and he also fills the gap with the bat.
Their dilemma is whether or not to travel with a double spin attack or enter with a 3rd seamer. I’ll need to see the conditions within the UAE to form that call, Nathan Coulter-Nile is going to be my choice,” Lara told cricket.com.
Mumbai Indians will play Chennai Super Kings on Sunday to kick-start the second leg of the IPL. Mumbai Indians are placed at the fourth position with eight points in seven matches thus far.
Lara feels the five-time champions will again start because the favorites lift the IPL trophy.
“The incontrovertible fact that the Mumbai Indians left Chepauk with a touch little bit of success, i feel which will give them the arrogance they have. they’re going back to the UAE, where they won the IPL 2020. on behalf of me they’re getting to start favorites,” said Lara.
“Their confidence goes to be high just from the very fact that they need good memories of playing within the UAE. I feel they will get the higher of CSK,” he said.
