Tanzania fines 9 oil corporations for violation of environmental rules

Tanzania’s environmental watchdog stated on Thursday it is fined 9 oil groups a whole of 5.1 billion Tanzanian shillings (approximately 2.2 million U.S. dollars) over violation of environmental rules.

Samuel Gwamaka, the Director-General of state-run National Environment Management Council (NEMC), stated the 9 groups are fined after it was installed that they built filling stations throughout us of a without present process an environmental effect assessment (EIA).

“The 9 oil groups ought to pay the fines within 14 days starting Sept. 10,” Gwamaka advised a press convention in the business capital Dar es Salaam.

Gwamaka stated an ongoing crackdown on oil groups which can be running filling stations without present process the EIA throughout us of a has installed that there are approximately 393 groups flouting the environmental rule.

He stated NEMC has installed that almost all of the oil groups have built filling stations without EIA, including that the crackdown became continuous.
