Turkey’s Determination: Eradicating Terrorist Networks in N. Iraq, Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reaffirmed its commitment to preventing a “terrorist structure” from emerging along its southern borders. He stated that “whatever the cost, Türkiye will not allow the presence of a terrorist organisation in northern Iraq or northern Syria.” This comes after six Turkish soldiers were killed and one wounded in an attack by PKK/YPG terrorists near the northern Iraqi border.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that 12 terrorists have been “neutralised” in a Turkish operation zone in northern Iraq and northern Syria since the attack on the soldiers. The term “neutralise” means that the terrorists surrendered, were killed, or captured.

The PKK, a terrorist organization listed by Turkey, the US, and the EU, has been responsible for over 40,000 deaths in its 35-year terror campaign against Turkey, including women, children, and infants.
