A fire is burning in the forests of Greece. The Israeli government has come forward to help Greece. Israel has started Operation Wings of Fire to help. The Cyprus President requested Israel for help. Israel has helped put out fires before.
According to Media Reports, Israel is sending crews and firefighting aircraft in cooperation with the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority and the IDF, led by the Ministry of National Security. The team left on Monday. The aircraft will assist Greece in extinguishing the Limassol forest fires. Earlier, the Israeli force had left for Greece to help fight the fire under Operation Firebirds. Greece’s Defense Minister Dendias is on a visit to Israel. He held a meeting with Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
Israel’s PMO says Cyprus President Nikos Christodolides personally requested Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to help put out the wildfires. According to the PMO, the help has been due to the strong bilateral partnership between the two countries. The PMO says that the aid operation under the Israeli mission in Cyprus has been possible only with the cooperation of all agencies.
There is severe heat in Greece, due to which the forests here are coming under the grip of fire. Due to this people’s life has become busy. The fire has taken such a severe form that all the residential areas have also come under the grip. Thousands of people have left the island of Rhodes. At the same time, tourists are running here and there to avoid the fire. According to WWF Greece, 35,000 hectares (86,500 acres) of forest and other land have been scorched by fires in the country in the past week alone. According to the Meteorological Department, the heat is expected to reach 41 degrees Celsius in the capital Athens and 44 degrees Celsius in central Greece.
Firefighters are engaged to control the fire in the Rhodes forest and to evacuate people safely. Evacuation by land and sea continues. In such a situation, it is being said that this is the first time in Greece that such a large number of people have had to leave their homes due to forest fires.
