Six Indonesian Miss Universe contestants allege sexual harassment by organizers, who forced them to remove their clothes for an investigation. Police will investigate the matter promptly.
Let us tell you that the Miss Universe Indonesia contest was organized from July 29 to August 3 in the capital Jakarta. Six young women participants have alleged that the organizers asked five of them to strip to their underwear for physical examination in a room in front of more than 20 people, and photographs were taken.
During this time, men were also present in the room. Melissa Anggreni, a lawyer for the girls who complained, said the organizers had insisted the girls be examined to see if there were any marks on their bodies. Anggreni said that the strip test was done in the name of competition, whereas there was no need for it.
A complainant has said that she was asked to pose in various ways, including with her legs open. He has also said that it felt like he was being stalked. At that time, she was feeling extremely uncomfortable. In this case, there was no response from PT Capella Swastika Karya, the company that organizes the Miss Universe Indonesia pageant, or Poppy Capella, the company’s founder.
At the same time, Jakarta police spokesman Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko says that on Monday, a complaint was received from six girls who were involved in Miss Universe Indonesia. It will be investigated. Significantly, in Indonesia, the country with the world’s largest Muslim population, many religious organizations have been objecting to the Miss Universe contest.
