AMARNATH YATRA 2023: Amarnath Yatra resumed after three days

Srinagar

After remaining suspended for three days, the Amarnath Yatra resumed on Sunday afternoon following an improvement in the weather on both the routes at Baltal and Pahalgam. Officials said the stranded pilgrims at Sheshnag towards Pahalgam and Panjtarni towards Baltal were allowed to proceed towards the cave shrine soon after the weather improved.

Pilgrims who had already made the journey but were stranded between the cave shrine and the two base camps have also been allowed to go down. Meanwhile, helicopter services for the pilgrims from both Pahalgam and Baltal sides were resumed this morning.

However, the movement of passengers from Jammu to the Valley remained suspended due to the blockade of the Jammu-Srinagar highway. About 700 pilgrims were provided shelter and other facilities during bad weather by the Army at Qazigund on their way to the base camps.
