Kazakhstan’s Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek said in an exclusive interview with China Media Group (CMG) correspondent that he saw the opening ceremony of the Universiade filled with traditional Chinese cultural elements and the mascot panda. He was very impressed by them.

He said that President Xi Jinping personally attended the opening ceremony of the Universiade. It shows the importance China attaches to sports, youth, culture and the education of the next generation. The organization of this Universiade is of a high standard.

According to Nurbek, athletes attending the Kazakhstani sports festival told him that the enthusiasm and thoughtfulness of the Chinese organizers made all the athletes feel at home. Changtu’s sports venues and urban infrastructure are particularly commendable.

Nurbek also said that China is a friendly neighbour of Kazakhstan and there is great potential for cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of youth sports. At present, both countries are actively cooperating in the field of sports training, sports medicine and sports management. Let us tell you that Kazakhstan has sent a total of 90 athletes to participate in 11 events in the current Universiade. They will mainly compete for medals in Taekwondo, Judo, Archery, Swimming and Martial Arts.
