Donald Trump demanding removal of judge in 2020 election sabotage case

Washington

Former US President Donald Trump has demanded the removal of US District Judge Tanya Chutkan from the case of sabotage in the 2020 presidential election. Trump’s lawyers argue that Chutkan’s comments at the sentencing of two defendants referenced Trump and that he believes the former president should be tried and punished.

Trump’s lawyers claim that Chutkan’s statements made before the commencement of the case and without due process are inherently disqualifying. US Special Counsel Jack Smith has charged Trump for allegedly attempting to overturn the election results. Trump is the first former US President to face criminal charges, with four charges levelled against him.
