GE Aerospace on Thursday (June 22) entered into an agreement with HAL for joint production of the jet engine for the Indian Air Force’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA)-Mk-2 Tejas. This agreement is being considered as a milestone. GE President and CEO H. Lawrence Culp Jr. said this is a historic agreement made possible by our long-standing partnership with India and HAL. This deal will boost defence cooperation between the two countries.

Regarding the deal, the US company said in its statement, “The agreement includes the possibility of joint production of GE Aerospace’s F414 engine in India and GE Aerospace is working with the US government to obtain the necessary export authorization for this purpose.” Will continue to work.” The company described the MoU with HAL as an important element towards strengthening defence cooperation between India and the US.

The White House had already indicated the deal
