Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been sentenced to 3 years in the Toshakhana case. He has also been arrested from Lahore. After this decision of a trial court in Islamabad, Imran Khan will not be able to contest elections for 5 years. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the PTI chief. Imran Khan was convicted in the case on 10 May on a complaint filed against him by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the Toshakhana case. PTI has announced to take the matter to the High Court.
Former PM Imran Khan has been sent to Attock Jail in Punjab. At this time, a large gathering of policemen is being seen outside the jail. Imran Khan has been brought from Lahore to Islamabad. During the hearing today, Additional District and Sessions Judge Humayun Dilawar while giving the verdict said that the allegations against the former prime minister in the Toshakhana case have been proved. A Pakistani high court on Friday set aside a lower court’s ruling and asked Imran Khan to re-hear a corruption case in which the former prime minister was accused of selling expensive government gifts and profiting from it while in power.
