Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on July 15 and will meet UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Ministry of External Affairs on Wednesday said that the PM will be accorded a ceremonial reception, following which a series of bilateral talks and other events will be held in honour of the Prime Minister’s visit.
“After concluding his visit to France, the Prime Minister will leave for the United Arab Emirates and arrive there on 15 July where he will meet His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said, “A ceremonial welcome, bilateral talks and other events were organized in honour of the Prime Minister’s visit to the UAE.”
Kwatra said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Nayan last met in Abu Dhabi in June when the PM visited the UAE on his way back from the G7 summit in Munich.
“Since then they have also met on several virtual platforms, including the I2U2 (India, Israel, United Arab Emirates and the United States) summit in July last year,” the foreign secretary said.
Kwatra further informed that a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement was signed between India and the UAE during the virtual summit in February 2022. A Joint Vision Statement was also issued at that time. “We have seen a significant jump, a qualitative increase in the essence of our partnership in all areas since the signing of the CEPA (Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement). And the partnership continues to grow from strength to strength. This is particularly so,” said Kwatra reflected in stronger economic exchanges, not only on the trade side but also on the investment side, people-to-people ties and convergence on some regional and international issues.
