Manipur Chief Minister, N Biren Singh, has announced that internet services in Manipur have been restored after a five-day ban on mobile and broadband services in the state.

The ban was imposed as a precautionary measure to prevent unwanted incidents.

The ban, initially imposed for five days, has been extended since then. Although the government partially lifted the ban on July 25, only broadband services can function with certain conditions, the mobile internet ban continues.

Manipur experienced violence on May 3 due to a tribal protest over the inclusion of the Meiteis community for scheduled tribe status.
