Israeli Military Procures ParaZero’s DefendAir Counter-Drone Systems to Strengthen Defense Against Increasing UAV Threats

Israeli defense forces have placed their first procurement order for ParaZero Technologies’ DefendAir counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS), marking a significant step in Israel’s expanding efforts to protect personnel and infrastructure from drone threats. The announcement, made by ParaZero Technologies on Thursday, highlights the growing operational focus on anti-drone capabilities amid the increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in modern conflicts.

The order represents ParaZero’s first direct contract with a major Israeli defense organization for its DefendAir system. It includes delivery of operational units, integration support, and comprehensive training to enable rapid deployment in the field. According to ParaZero, the systems will serve as a key component in Israel’s broader counter-drone strategy, designed to safeguard ground forces and critical operational sites from aerial incursions.

DefendAir is a multi-layered, soft-kill counter-drone solution that intercepts hostile drones without the use of missiles or kinetic weapons. The system employs patented net-launching technology to capture drones mid-flight, mitigating the risk of debris or collateral damage, which is particularly important in urban areas or near sensitive infrastructure.

“DefendAir is intended to provide comprehensive protection for troops, installations, and populated areas where traditional air defense systems may not be suitable,” ParaZero said in a statement. “The system has been validated through multiple field trials, achieving full interception success against small unmanned aircraft.”

Unlike hard-kill systems that rely on guns or missiles, DefendAir physically disables UAVs, allowing for deployment close to friendly forces or civilian populations. The system is portable and scalable, capable of protecting both stationary facilities and mobile units in operational theaters.

ParaZero confirmed that the purchase encompasses both hardware and software integration, along with operator training. This approach ensures that the customer can deploy the system effectively and swiftly after delivery. Details regarding the number of units ordered or the total value of the contract were not disclosed.

ParaZero CEO Ariel Alon emphasized the operational significance of the order. “We are honored to receive this first order from a leading Israeli defense entity, reflecting the reliability and effectiveness of our DefendAir systems in real-world scenarios,” Alon said. “Recent conflicts have demonstrated that drones can pose a significant challenge on the battlefield. This procurement underscores the urgent need for advanced, scalable counter-drone capabilities, and we are proud to enhance the protection of Israeli forces.”

The announcement aligns with a broader global trend, as military forces worldwide increasingly acquire counter-UAS systems to address the rising threat of drones used for reconnaissance, targeting, and attacks. Low-cost UAVs have been shown to threaten armored vehicles, logistics nodes, command posts, and frontline units, prompting demand for systems that can operate safely in complex and densely populated environments.

ParaZero Technologies, an aerospace defense company specializing in autonomous solutions for both manned and unmanned aerial platforms, has previously developed safety and recovery systems for commercial and military drones. The company has since expanded into dedicated counter-drone solutions, offering systems tailored for military and security applications.

With this procurement, Israel joins a growing number of nations actively integrating soft-kill C-UAS technology into their defense arsenals, reflecting a recognition that traditional air defense approaches may not be sufficient to counter the rapidly evolving drone threat. ParaZero’s DefendAir system is now positioned as a key tool in Israel’s ongoing efforts to secure operational advantage against unmanned aerial threats.
