About 900 Palestinians were left homeless during a two-day Israeli offensive on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp on July 4, the Palestinian Information Center reported.
The revelation came from Adnan Abu Hasna, spokesman for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). did on Wednesday.
Abu Hasna emphasized that agency staff are still documenting the damage to the camp from the attack. He said restarting UNRWA’s education, health (including mental health) and sanitation services is a top priority for the organisation.
“The second immediate priority is to provide cash assistance to help with rent and house repairs to families who have left their homes,” Abu Hasna said.
UNRWA has reached out to its benefactors and partners to urgently raise funds for its humanitarian response in the Jenin camp.
Reportedly, the two-day Israeli offensive on Jenin was the deadliest in more than 20 years. At least 12 people were killed, including four children, and another 140 suffered severe injuries.
