A high-speed bus carrying Christian pilgrims for a religious gathering in Sheikhupura, Pakistan, overturned and killed at least six people and injured 50 others. The bus was carrying 60 passengers, more than its capacity, and the driver lost control while taking a turn.

The National Marian Shrine in Mariamabad, also known as ‘Mary City’, has been the site of an annual pilgrimage to the Nativity of Mary since 1949. The accident occurred at a turn in Khanka Dogran, Sheikhupura, about 50 kilometres from Lahore.
