The Pakistani government has written a letter to President Arif Alvi demanding the dissolution of the National Assembly. The government has discussed cancelling Parliament with three days remaining to give the elections more time.
If the Parliament is dissolved before the deadline, the Election Commission must hold fresh elections within 90 days.
If the term of the Parliament expires, elections will have to be held within 60 days. The Shehbaz Sharif government has recommended the dissolution of the Parliament three days in advance.
