Russia-Ukraine war: 500 days

The war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for almost 17 months. The war began on 24 February 2022 when Russian President Vladimir Putin directed his forces against Ukraine. A military operation was ordered.

Volodymyr Zelensky visited a Black Sea island whose defenders defied a Russian warship at the start of the invasion. Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine had reached its 500th day. He said that today we are on Snake Island, which, like the whole of Ukraine, will never be conquered by the occupiers, because we are a country of the brave. He said that I would like to thank each one of our soldiers for these 500 days from this place of victory.

Let us tell you that in the year 2014, Russia captured the Crimea peninsula on the Black Sea. But Russia has come to consider it outside the scope of its special military operation in eastern-southern Ukraine. Russia captured Snake Island shortly after launching its invasion on February 24, 2022.

A radio exchange later went viral in which Ukrainian soldiers were heard telling the crew of the attacking Russian warship that they were demanding their surrender. Ukrainian soldiers were taken prisoner but were later replaced with Russian prisoners. Went. Kyiv recaptured the island in June last year.

According to a news agency, from 24 February 2022 to 21 May 2023, about 15,117 civilians lost their lives in this war. At the same time, according to US intelligence documents, about 3,54,000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers were killed and injured in this war.
