STOCKHOLM

A damaged nuclear reactor in Sweden, which was supposed to be restarted in mid-March, has been further delayed. This information was given by the local news agency.

The nuclear reactor Ringhalls 4 was scheduled to restart in November 2022. Citing a report by TT News Agency, Xinhua News Agency said that the reactor’s start-up date was first extended to January, then February 24 and March 19, but the reactor will now not be operational until March 23.

The delay in starting up the reactors could mean that electricity prices, which have reached record levels over the past year, will remain so.

According to the Swedish Radiation Protection Agency, about 30 per cent of the electricity produced in Sweden is from nuclear power.
