The Turkish defense and aerospace industry set a new record in export figures in the first two months of the year, with shipments amounting to $632.78 million.

This growth is attributed to the importance of shipments for the sector’s sustainable growth.

The head of the Presidency of Defense Industries, Haluk Görgün, highlighted the importance of security needs of friendly countries and user countries’ interest in defense systems for the future of the sector.

Türkiye’s defense industry has experienced significant growth, thanks to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s support and belief in the nation’s children.

The industry has developed homegrown air, land, and marine platforms, reducing the country’s foreign dependency from 80% in the early 2000s to about 20% today.

The focus on building defense systems and vehicles has also led to Türkiye becoming a significant exporter, with a record $5.5 billion in foreign shipments achieved last year. Görgün pledged to continue working tirelessly in the industry.
