US and Mexico are Tackling Border Issues Together

The White House is collaborating with Mexico’s government to resolve issues that led to the closure of two rail crossings at the Texas-Mexico border, which are used by increasing numbers of migrants to enter the US.

Major US agricultural groups have urged the US to reopen the crossings, claiming the closures are causing significant export losses to US growers. The farm groups argue that the US Customs and Border Protection agency could reopen the rail bridges with minimal staff.

The US is working closely with the Mexican government to resolve the issue of temporary border closures, while also escorting personnel to the region. The US is regularly communicating with industry leaders to assess and mitigate the impacts of these temporary closures.

The US Homeland Security Department shut down the crossings to stop a large movement of migrants and protect personnel’s health and safety.
