The US has completed the second round of random lottery selection for the much-anticipated H-1B work visa for foreign guest workers and successful applicants have been notified, according to a federal agency. The H-1B visa is a nonimmigrant visa that allows US companies to employ foreign workers in speciality occupations that require theoretical or technical expertise.
Technology companies depend on it to hire thousands of employees every year from countries like India and China. “We have now randomly selected from among the remaining registrations for FY 2024 an estimate of a sufficient number of registrations needed to reach the limit,” US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) said on Tuesday. It added that all successful applicants eligible for H-1B visas for the fiscal year beginning October 1 have been notified.
