Xi Jinping will join SCO meeting

Chinese President Xi Jinping will attend the SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation) meeting to be held next week under the chairmanship of India. Xi Jinping will join this meeting virtually.

China has made its official announcement. China’s Foreign Ministry has issued a statement saying that at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Xi Jinping will attend the 23rd SCO Council of Heads of State meeting through video conferencing.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry confirmed

Due to the border dispute between India and China, there is tension in the relations between the two countries. This is the reason why there was doubt about the Chinese President attending the SCO meeting. However, now the Chinese government has issued an official statement confirming Xi Jinping’s participation in the meeting. The SCO meeting is to be held in India on July 4.

What is SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organisation)

Explain that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an effective economic and security organization, which is one of the largest interregional organizations in the world.

SCO was started in the year 2001 in Shanghai, China. Its founding member countries are Russia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In the year 2017, India and Pakistan were also made permanent members. This year the presidency of SCO is with India.

Significantly, for the first time this meeting is being held under the chairmanship of India. Earlier on Tuesday, the New Delhi Hall was inaugurated at the SCO Secretariat in Beijing.

The SCO Secretariat had halls of its six founding countries, but now India’s hall has also started in this secretariat, in which the distinctive culture of India has been displayed. Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar inaugurated it.
