Earthquake tremors were felt in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Wednesday morning. The National Center for Seismology said the tremors were felt in the Nicobar Islands at 5.40 am.

The National Center for Seismology said the earthquake measured 5.0 on the Richter scale. He said that no casualty has been reported so far.

Earthquake occurs as a result of sudden movement of energy in the outer layer of the earth. This energy produces seismic waves on the Earth’s surface, which are manifested by shaking or displacing the ground.
