Drone Strikes and Onboard Fires in the Indian Ocean

A drone strike caused an explosion and fire on a merchant ship in the Arabian Sea, causing no casualties. The ship, carrying crude oil, was heading towards Mangaluru from Saudi Arabia.

An Indian Coast Guard vessel, ICGS Vikram, has been directed towards the distressed ship and has alerted all ships in the area to provide assistance. The Coast Guard vessel has been directed to the ship in distress.

The Indian Navy has assisted in the evacuation of an injured sailor from a hijacked Malta-flagged cargo vessel, MV Ruen, in the Arabian Sea.

The fire has been extinguished, but it has affected the ship’s functioning, and all crew members are safe.
