Ulaanbaatar
Mongolia’s Ulan Bator municipal government celebrated Car-Free Day on Saturday to reduce traffic congestion, promote healthy living, and reduce vehicle emissions.
All main roads in the capital city were closed to private cars and public transport vehicles, only opening for pedestrians and cyclists.
Air pollution and traffic jams have been pressing issues in Ulan Bator, home to half of the country’s 3.4 million population. Car-Free Day is observed twice a year in the city.
